Flu-1 Yogichef-0
I was suppose to be landing in Oakland about now to celebrate the Gals birthday. We are the same age but she would kill me if I neglected to mention she is 3 months younger, but you can barley tell. Woke up yesterday with a 102 degree fever, and I had gotten a flu shot. Well nothing will change your plans quicker than the flu. It has been years and now I will have years more to go without the...

My Mise is in Place
My Sucre Dough has had enough rest. I took her out and let her warm up, just a little. I then roll it out. I still use flour. It makes it very easy to peel off the to layer and place into the tart pan. Now my pastry dough is in the fridge getting another well deserved rest. Sleep tight Mi Cherie.
I am making lamb shanks. They benefit with a couple days in the fridge to meld their flavors. Last...
Six Days and Counting
Saturday night will be here before you know it so I will prep a little everyday . Today was really simple I made sucre dough for my tart. The secret to light dough is rest, not for you for the dough. My dough is resting comfortably in the fridge. This is a recipe from Sherry Yard, executive chef for all Wolfgang Puck restaurants and my boss when I worked at Spago.
Rice Short Dough 1/2 Cup...
FOUR!!!! Or Sunday Dinner after 18 holes
So the boys are golfing today so the non-golfers and the golfers will meet here for dinner.
I am stuck on the salad I made last Sunday, but it’s new to them and we like it. I just needed to make some more dressing, voilà, no big now I have enough for a few more rounds of that great apple salad.
I wanted to keep it simple so I ran to Costco. Normally I avoid Costco like the plauge but they carry...
Wednesday Night Dinner
What should I make for dinner? The million dollar question. Not only do I figure this out for myself and my family but I cannot tell you how many people ask me. I am like dome kind of recipe ATM, except no money comes in. I think every meal has to be fantastic. I mean you never now I don’t want my last meal to be a bowl of CapnCrunch! My husband seems to be only a chronic diet, at least Monday...
Party Time!!
My original idea for a blog had always been about how to entertain while having a life. I love to have parties. People always ask how I pull it all together. Well, beside the fact I worked as a professional chef, at Spago, I have thrown hundreds of parties and know how to do it.
It all starts with putting together a great group of friends. Done that. So in 2 weeks I am having 10 people for...
Shout out to the Gal
Originally my first post was about my BFF, but because
I am a bit of a computer spazz i needed ot start over. But I am inspired to start blogging and my amazing kitchen tour is all because of the Gal. She leaves in San Francisco and when she moved over 15 years ago we made a pact to stay in touch and try never to let more than 3 months go by without a visit. And we have pretty much been able to...
Bobs in town, let's have dinner
Not only was it Sunday but my brother dropped into LA for 24 hours. A great reason to make a really special Sunday dinner. We started with a salad made with mixed greens, bacon, gorgonzola, fennel and a thinly sliced apple. For the dressing I carmelized an apple then pureed it and made it into a vinagrette. Topped it off with some sweet spicy pecans and you are good to go. Here is a link:
